The EU renews product safety legislations to mitigate safety and fundamental rights risks that are caused by software in general and new digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, connectivity, autonomous robotics, and data-based business models.
This report summarizes the current round of updates to the EU regulatory framework related to digitization and software started in the late 2010s and is expected to be completed in early 2024. Particular attention has been paid to the regulation of cyber security of devices and products, artificial intelligence and usage data.
The purpose of this report is to help machine manufacturers to be early adopters and thus win a market share from late adopters and protect themselves from costs of non-compliance.
