Tampere University focuses on two challenges in the Mixed Fleet project:
1. Understanding human behavior, experience, and role in the collaboration between manned and unmanned work machines.
2. Developing approachable programming/configuration for autonomous working machines.
The second challenge was inspired by two well-known facts. Firstly, the development of reliable and high-quality software is a specialized skill that requires both extensive education and practical experience. There is a constant shortage of these professionals. Secondly, the development of useful software requires an understanding of the application domain. In this case, the “domain” can be the working machine itself, its tasks, and its physical limitations, or the usage context of the machine, such as a logistics center where the machines move goods around.
In this project, TASE - Software Engineering Research Center explores a new era of domain-specific languages for the domains of autonomous working machines and mixed fleets.
